Abstract:
This paper provides suggestions for businesses that operate in global supply chains on how to manage existing risks around modern slavery. First, the term “modern slavery” and its relation to companies will be explored, followed by a short overview of the expectations towards businesses, arising from different existing frameworks. The second part will highlight particularly affected business areas, by drawing upon cases from the agricultural, textile and construction sectors. Finally, this paper provides some constructive solutions for businesses on how to deal with modern slavery and how they can prevent labour exploitation along their supply chain.
