Sector Spotlight: Textile & Fashion

Content:

The textile sector has been going through tremendous changes over the past years. Sustainability is now unavoidable. While most companies are focusing their efforts on managing compliance among their existing suppliers, there is a special opportunity to create value by working with a new type of supplier: social enterprises. Indeed, the social enterprise is a specific type of supplier that is dedicated to social impact by essence. The concept of social procurement represents the unique opportunity for companies to actually drive positive social impact directly through their suppliers’ contracts and move from a ‘do not harm’ approach to a ‘do good’ approach, which matches a consumer’s demand for clothes and items that come with a story. Innovation comes in the form of new products, new partnerships, or new business models.
