Ask the Experts: How relevant is the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive for your business now?
The European Commission published its Proposal for a Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence at the end of February. The proposed Directive sets out duties for certain European and non-European companies to exercise due diligence for actual and potential adverse human rights and environmental impacts in their own operations, those of their subsidiaries and in their value chains.
Since the announcement of the draft EU Directive, we have received numerous questions from our clients about how they should adapt their due diligence management processes to incorporate the expected requirements of the EU Directive.
In this Ask the Experts session, human rights and legal experts from Löning will summarize these questions and provide answers to each. They will also examine the key obligations under the Directive and explain what they mean for business now. Taking into account existing national laws in Europe, they will explain what businesses should do when to prepare for the implementation of the EU sustainability due diligence requirements.
As it is standard in our Ask the Experts format, the second half of the 45-minute event will be dedicated to questions from the audience. During this Q&A session, you will be able to ask our experts questions on the timeline and proposed requirements of the Directive and what the Directive means for your business now.
You will also learn about:
- When will the Directive come into force?
- What are the core elements of the Directive?
- What are the differences and overlaps with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act?
- How should companies organize their management systems to prepare?
