In today’s dynamic business environment, simply meeting compliance standards is no longer enough. The focus is shifting towards embedding sustainability and human rights into the core of business operations driving change and creating opportunities. The evolving landscape, shaped by the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), emphasises the importance of capacity building as a preventive measure according to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and relevant mandatory human rights due diligence legislation.

In our Insight Hub session, “Building human rights capacity: from compliance to transformation,” experts and co-heads of the Löning Academy, Leonel Lisboa and Rita Delgado Correcher, along with the session’s moderator Alice Homuth, head of consulting, will explore how businesses can move beyond compliance by effectively training their workforce and suppliers. This session will highlight how capacity building serves as a cornerstone for human rights due diligence, helping organisations not just meet legal obligations but truly transform their practices.

Key topics to be covered include:

    • What role does corporate training and capacity building play in preventing human rights violations within a company’s operations and supply chains while fostering a culture of respect for human rights?

    • If you’re tasked with sustainability and human rights governance at your organisation, what strategies can be employed to plan your human rights and environmental due diligence roadmap?

    • How does capacity building support long-term compliance and positions businesses as leaders in sustainability and human rights?
